Fleet Oddballs/Demos - Current Oddballs

Last updated July 4th, 2008.

SEPTA consists of over 1400 vehicles, each of these buses/trolleys/trains may be specified the same on order but after a well in service, SEPTA decides to test new equipment on these units. The New equipment could be anywhere from new propulsion systems to a new designation signs.

1996 American Ikarus 416.08TA #5251

5251 is the only NABI bus in the fleet that was retrofitted with a Orange LED sign, most likely a Luminator Horizon sign. The retrofit occurred during the first quarter of 2005. This bus is currently assigned to Midvale.

1998 Neoplan AN-440A OQ #7101

7101 is the only Neoplan AN-460 OQ to have a Twin Vision ALL - LED Amber (orange) destination sign. This sign was installed in 2000/2001 to test the new sign. This new sign ended up on all future bus orders starting with the 2001 New Flyers. 7101 is obvious on approach as it looks like you're seeing a New Flyer coming but you notice it doesn't look like one.
